PR Day Celebration: Little Black Awesomesauce!

Words to live by if you are a NY'er or Emmanuelle Alt

Pattern Review's Little Black Dress party at Elliott Berman Textiles was awesome! If you didn't attend, well, you missed out. Really.

The blogosphere glitterati were out in full force, looking immensely chic in their LBDs.

Carolyn, moi and Deepika

I even met the mythic Sharon. You know Sharon. TailorChick Sharon. Right! That Sharon. The one that taught Gertie. She's not a blogosphere myth, people! She's real and in about 8 seconds she analyzed my figure and fitting issues to a tee. Oh, and she asked if I had given any thought to corsets. I have. So, naturally, I woke up this morning thinking of corsets. Oy vay.  This is how an obsession begins.

Oh! And there were contests and prizes, courtesy of Elliott Berman!

Oh boy, oh boy! Silk for meeeee!!!
(Edited to add that the far left and right are DKNY  97% silk 3% lycra Crepe de Chine)

Can you tell that a great time was had by all?  Happy Birthday, PR!!!

More pics on FB - Elliott Berman or Deepika or Pattern Review's pages

And now I am off to the Craft Lounge after a long morning of puttering, feeling much more inspired.  Happy sewing, peeps!

What a party! Your LBD is positively va-va-voom!

Va-va-voom indeed! My dad used to say that.

Looks so fun!

Thanks , ladies! That's my Vogue 1342 - made back in March and worn as often as I have an opportunity!

Your dress looks great! I didn't know about this event otherwise I would've totally come. Looks like a blast. Also reminds me that I need to sew an LBD...

It was great to see you again and yes I totally recognized you even without your purple hair!

Oh no! Last year I almost missed it, too. You have to follow PR and/or Elliott Berman on FB or read the PR e-newsletter.

HA! I've had a few awkward encounters where I met someone with and then saw them without and I began the conversation like we're old friends while they are clearly confused...

Gosh you look Damn Good! What pattern is that LBD? You should make more of it. In every shade of black.

Clio said...

Ha! Funny you say that as I like every shade of black. ;-)
It's Vogue 1342 Donna Karan.

I've worked with Sharon Butler several times. She's extremely helpful. Especially at the start, fitting requires so much judgment and experience and I don't have a dress form.

:( I'm still pouting about missing this. You looked fabulous though!

Clio said...

Yeah, where were you?

Oh, oh, is it the DK pattern of weirdly one-piece gatheredness, that you tackled this summer? I thought I recognized it in the tiny little photos on Peter's facebook page. Looks like y'all had great fun. Thanks for letting us peep in on you.

Yes! It's one small and one huge piece (plus lining). It was a challenging sew - I still get questions about how it;s supposed to go together.

It was so nice to meet you, Clio! Your dress was hot, hot, hot! Don't you think NYC needs much much more fabric store partying?

I am seeing all the PR Day posts and kicking myself for not being there. Was teaching all weekend and couldn't swing it. It looks like you ladies had a blast. I love your LBD!!
