Still no Raspberry, and there's a fair amount of cabin fever around these parts. So, here is the first of two knit projects which were finished in the last week.
Phin has named this cute giraffe Dijon.
This is the second Not-so-Itty-Bitty Giraffe I've knit from Susan B Anderson's Itty-Bitty Toys book and Craftsy class (first one here). In fact, the Craftsy class is what got me started knitting stuffed animals. I really think it's well worth it, especially for all the finishing details like how to decided where to place the legs, ears and horns, and how to sew the face. These are the steps that tend to get glossed over in patterns, but really add to the cuteness of the finished stuffed animal.
Really, Dijon is just loaded with cute features, isn't she?
From the cute pompom capped horns to the ears to the pompom mane...
...to the spots and tail. Really, this is just the cutest pattern.
For this go-round I used Ella Rae Classic Superwash yarn in worsted weight. The colorways are Sunflower and Orange. It was reasonably priced and knit up well. I have plenty left over to make some cute something for Raspberry. Maybe a hat with a pompom? We'll see.
For now we are just waiting...

I was thinking about you and wondering if Raspberry's grand entrance had come yet. At least you are getting lots of crafty treats ready and have one more member of the herd to greet the new arrival! Dijon is adorable.
I have the giraffe cued up. Meanwhile, Raspberry will arrive!! Then you won't have time for any cabin fever.
c'mon raspberry! mama is getting fed up of waiting!
When I saw you at Elliott Berman and you said it was your last day of work before the due date, I remember thinking uh oh, I bet this little one is going take his/her sweet time now and make poor Clio go stir crazy. Hang in there!
This is adorable! C'mon, Raspberry, don't you want to play with all your toys???
Dijon is so cute and appropriately named given that a toy giraffe is a classic French toy (in addition to the color). The wait is torturous and then suddenly it is over and you are way too busy and sleep deprived to think. I hope your delivery goes smoothly.
You know, I'm commenting at 7:30 - about 12 hours after you wrote this post - and I'm feeling an intuition that you're in labour right now. Of course, what do I know. I'm waiting for some exciting news and it might be altering my perspective. :-) What an adorable stuffy. You really do excel at those.
No such luck, I'm afraid. We were just at the midwives for a checkup - all good.
Seriously! Stubborn baby... 😉
Ha! Yeah, this little one shows no sign of rushing. The first 2 weeks were good, but now we're ready!
I'm glad someone picked up on that! The name was Phin's idea.
Unlurking to love on your toy knitting. If I hadn't picked it up myself over the last 6ish months, you would totally be egging me that way. Have you knit any of Rebecca Danger's patterns? My kids have a claim on nearly every one in the 50 Yards of Fun book...
Good luck with all the hurry-up-and-wait. Kid1 was 8 days late after receiving an eviction notice. Meanwhile I had not been at work for almost 3 wks with no good reason except the grant funding cycle that required us to spend the money by a certain date. It was enough to drive me nearly mad. As horrible as those first days were with the first one - leaking from everywhere, alien body having replaced mine, sleeping only enough to make me even more delirious - my absolute favorite time with my teeny babies was in the first month. Falling so deeply in love with a being that really only sucked my brains out through my nipples and then shot them back at me in excrement form a few hours later - *sigh*, magical. :)
Love! Love those pompoms and the spots. What an adorable giraffe. They be my favourite animal, y'know. Get out and walk for miles... it'll cure the cabin fever and shake Raspberry down a little. :D
Aren't knit toys so cute and easy once you get going?? I've actually added both of Rebecca Danger's Monster books to my xmas list.
LOL - Phin and I have been laughing over your comment all morning. Yeah, we're 8 days late today. Crazy the things you wish for!
Yeah, a daily walk is one of the few constants at this point. On the dreary days it's been on a treadmill, and the nicer days outside...
Brilliant! I can't wait to find out Raspberry's proper moniker.
Just heard that a friend who loves giraffes is pregnant! Yay, cuz I bought the yarn for this project over a year ago.
